The Charm of Zone 4 Evening Tiger Safari

The lush greenery, rugged terrain, and tranquil surroundings create the perfect setting for an unforgettable wildlife adventure. As the sun starts to set over the horizon, the park comes alive with the sights and sounds of its inhabitants preparing for the night ahead.

MY EXPERIENCE IN ZONE 4 EVENING SAFARI

I began my safari in Zone 4 of the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve on a canter. After an unsuccessful morning safari with no tiger sightings, we decided to try our luck again in the evening, hoping for a different outcome.

Zone 4 is incredibly picturesque. Compared to Zone 6, Zone 4 is larger, denser, and more beautiful. It also includes the path to Trinetra Ganesh Ji. At the beginning of the zone, we encountered a large number of deer, and near Malik Lake, we observed many migratory birds. Ranthambore has three lakes in total—two in Zone 3 and one, Malik Lake, in Zone 4, which is home to about 50 crocodiles.

According to our guide, Zone 4 is the largest zone, increasing the likelihood of spotting a tiger. Ranthambore hosts approximately 80 tigers, with seven of them, including cubs, residing in Zone 4. Tigers are most active around 5 PM in the evening and around 8 AM in the morning, with the highest chances of sightings occurring during the summer.

During our safari, we spotted a bear, which reignited our hopes of seeing a tiger. As we continued, we joined a group of tourists waiting at a spot where a tiger was reportedly in a cave. After waiting for about 30-45 minutes, our patience paid off. Finally, after an hour, we were rewarded with a sighting of the majestic B20 Ganesh tiger.
