Perfect 2 Day Udaipur Itinerary: Best Places to Visit in 48 Hours

If you only have two days in Udaipur, don’t worry — it’s more than enough to see the best of the city if you plan things in the right order. Udaipur isn’t the kind of place you rush through. It’s a city you experience slowly — with lake views, palace terraces, quiet mornings, and glowing sunsets.

Udaipur feels romantic without trying too hard. It’s royal but relaxed. And the best part? Most of the major attractions are not too far from each other.

Here’s exactly how you can spend two days in Udaipur without feeling exhausted or missing the main highlights.

Day 1: Old City, City Palace & Lake Pichola

Day 1 should be focused completely on the Old City area. Most of the iconic attractions are within walking distance of each other.

9:00 AM – Explore City Palace

Start early at City Palace. This is the main landmark of Udaipur and deserves at least 2.5 to 3 hours.

The palace complex is massive, filled with courtyards, balconies, detailed mirror work, paintings, and museum galleries. As you move upward, you’ll get breathtaking views of Lake Pichola and the old city rooftops.

Take your time here. Don’t rush through it just to tick it off your list.

Time needed: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

12:15 PM – Visit Jagdish Temple

Just a short walk from City Palace, Jagdish Temple is one of the oldest and most beautifully carved temples in Udaipur.

The intricate stone carvings and peaceful atmosphere make it a quick but meaningful stop. You won’t need more than 30–40 minutes here.

Time needed: 12:15 PM – 1:00 PM

1:15 PM – Lunch at Natraj Dining Hall

For lunch, head to Natraj Dining Hall for a proper Rajasthani thali experience.

This place is well-known for its unlimited thali service, offering dal baati, gatte ki sabzi, kadhi, rotis, rice, sweets, and more. It’s simple, authentic, and satisfying.

Plan about an hour here.

2:30 PM – Explore Bagore Ki Haveli

After lunch, return toward the lake area and visit Bagore Ki Haveli.

Inside, you’ll see traditional rooms, royal costumes, decorative mirrors, and historic artifacts. It gives you a glimpse of how nobles once lived.

Spend around 1 to 1.5 hours here.

4:15 PM – Walk Along Lake Pichola

By late afternoon, take it slow. Walk around the ghats near Lake Pichola. The atmosphere here is lively but calm at the same time.

You’ll see:

  • Taj Lake Palace floating in the middle of the lake
  • Jag Mandir in the distance
  • Boats moving slowly across the water

Sit near the ghats and just enjoy the view.

6:45 PM – Sunset at Karni Mata Temple

For sunset, take the ropeway up to Karni Mata Temple. The ride itself is short but exciting, and once you’re at the top, the view is incredible.

You’ll see lakes, palaces, hills — all glowing in golden light. Try to reach before the sun starts setting so you can enjoy the full transition.

This is one of the best moments of the trip.

Evening – Cultural Show (Optional)

If you still have energy, attend the Dharohar folk dance show at Bagore Ki Haveli in the evening. It’s colorful, lively, and gives a cultural end to your first day.

Day 1 covers the complete Old City experience without unnecessary travel.

7:30 PM – Dinner at a Lakeside Cafe

End your first day with dinner at a lakeside café overlooking Lake Pichola. There are several rooftop and waterfront cafés in the Old City that offer direct views of the illuminated City Palace.

As night falls, the palace lights reflect on the lake, creating a peaceful and romantic setting. Whether you choose Indian cuisine or continental dishes, the real highlight is the view.

It’s the perfect relaxed ending to your Old City day.

Day 2: Gardens, Fateh Sagar & Monsoon Palace

Day 2 is for places slightly away from the Old City.

9:00 AM – Visit Saheliyon-ki-Bari

Start your morning at Saheliyon-ki-Bari. It’s calm, green, and less crowded early in the day.

You’ll see fountains, marble pavilions, and lotus pools. It’s not very large, so 40–45 minutes is enough.

If you have any other plans you can skip this garden due to shortage of time.

Time needed: 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM

10:15 AM – Relax at Fateh Sagar Lake

Next, head to Fateh Sagar Lake. Morning time here is peaceful.

For lunch on Day 2, choose a café or restaurant near Fateh Sagar Lake. There are several places offering lake views and relaxed seating.

You can opt for:

  • North Indian meals
  • Light continental dishes
  • Snacks and beverages

This is a good time to slow down before heading to the hilltop palace.

Time needed: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

2:30 PM – Visit Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace

In the afternoon, head to Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace.

Located on a hilltop, it offers panoramic views of Udaipur and the Aravalli hills. The drive up is scenic, and the open views from the top feel completely different from the crowded city center.

If the weather is clear, you can see multiple lakes from here.

Plan around 1.5 to 2 hours including travel.

Can You Really Cover Udaipur in 2 Days?

Yes — comfortably.

In two days, you can experience:

  • The grandeur of City Palace
